Quick Fixes For Thanksgiving Stains
Julie Edelman author of “The Ultimate Accidental Housewife” made a brief appearance on the TODAY show with her tips for cleaning up Thanksgiving stains.
Red Wine
Julie recommends using a sponge to blot the excess liquid from the clothing and then pouring white wine onto the stain. Julie says that the white wine will neutralize the red wine and lift the stain so it will come out when laundered as normal. Remember to try to launder immediately to increase your chances of removing the stain entirely.
Gravy
Julie recommends first removing any excess gravy and then applying baby powder and let sit for 15 min or so before soaking in an enzyme detergent. Launder as normal
Cranberry Sauce Spills Onto The Carpet
She says that if you simply blot the stain and then apply mens shaving cream on the stain it will lift completely. She does say that you should leave it overnight before you remove the shaving cream and blot the stain dry.
Polishing Silver & Copper
As I have posted previously salt and lemon juice are very effective in cleaning copper. Julie also shows us how to effectively polish silverware with ketchup.
