Los Angeles Needs To Recycle Its Recycle Bins

In an effort to encourage recycling , the city of angels has missed the mark….by a mile. Although, Los Angeles and its surrounding incorporated cities have given it homeowners a free recycling bin and weekly pick up, emptying and sorting couldn’t be more confusing. ┬áThe trash bins ( which are used for non biodegradable waste ) , are royal blue while the recyclables are to be dumped in a black canister.

While this may seem minute, i cant count the number of times i almost threw recyclables in the trash, simply because the trash bin is blue.

I realize that it may not have been cost effective in the initial stages of the program to replace all the bins to a different color. However the user mistakes have to be a problem that affects the programs integrity in the first place.

Los Angeles as a city, has a backlog of issues to deal with such as homelessness and potholes, but it would be nice if the programs instituted to encourage a greener L.A. were made fool proof so that they would actually work
