When it comes to clothes-lining, there is nothing worse than putting on a t-shirt as stiff as cardboard, or a pair of jeans that’s so hard they can stand up on their own. This is actually one of the biggest inconveniences of line drying your clothes, however it can be easily fixed. Vinegar is a product that can be used in a variety of ways to green cleaning enthusiasts like myself. It also serves as a great fabric softener in your laundry room.
Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to your laundry at the beginning of your rinse cycle
or
Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to your HE washers fabric softener dispenser
The vinegar removes all the alkaline left behind from laundry detergent, which is what makes the clothes hard while drying. It also helps to hang the clothes out of direct sunlight since over exposure to sun can also cause hardness.
Hopefully this will help you make your green lifestyle a little more comfortable. Please feel free to share you green cleaning and green laundry tips with us!

One of my favorite parts of green living is finding multiple uses for a household item. It saves time, money, and space for other useful green cleaning products. Well your laundry pre-treater can be used in other places besides the laundry room. It is great at removing adhesive left behind from tape on solid surfaces. Know of any other uses for laundry pre-treat? Let us know in comments

We some of us have the best intentions when it comes to protecting our planet and making better choices at the market, buying green cleaning products and organic foods. However, there have been instances when even i ( yes i said it) considered buying chlorine bleach just for those specific instances when i needed my whites, whiter and not dingy. Instead of giving up and buying the unhealthy stuff, I did some research and found a recipe that actually work well and can be used on just about all fabrics.
The recipe is as follows:
1 bottle hydrogen peroxide
2 quarts of water
1/4 cup of lemon juice for whitening power
Why This Works
The citric acid in lemons acts as a natural stain remover, bleach and sanitizer.
Benefits of Using Lemon as a Bleach:
* chlorine-free
* gentle on clothes and surfaces
* natural sanitizer
* effective whitener/ stain remover
* fume-free
* kid and pet-safe
* inexpensive
Bonus Tips
1. Use your homemade non-chlorine bleach just as you would a store-bought product.
2. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, such as lavender, ylang ylang or summer rain to your non-chlorine bleach to give it a scent that you love.
3. Your homemade non-chlorine bleach is safe to use on whites and colored clothes.
Using environmentally friendly products is good for you, your family and our environment and will reduce contamination of groundwater supply.
